Macquarie

Koala Woman Says

This electorate covers the Blue Mountains and wilderness areas to the north, about 80% of the bush in this electorate was burnt in the summer of 2019 – 2020, and would have wiped out most Koalas at Bilpin and elsewhere. Since the fire, Koalas in this electorate are mostly found in the lower Blue Mountains at Kurrajong with a couple of sightings near Faulconbridge so these Koalas were mostly lucky and survived. This electorate is a rugged wilderness with poor-quality Koala habitat. There are recent sightings near Bucketty in the northeast and a few around Blackheath, and that’s it.
