Koala Woman Says
Ryde was settled in the 1790s and there was still logging at Carlingford up until the 1920s. Farming was still a major land use until after WW2 when housing development began in earnest. I am confident Koalas used to roam these forests until then. There is a 2022 sighting from the “I Spy” Koala app, but this was suspiciously close to the old NSW State Forests depot in Putney so we don’t think it’s a real Koala.
